Thank you for this article, although handwriting is a fading skill. It’s a shame. I haven’t used cursive since the 6th grade. I remember fancying myself my own writing style. This article is so true of my personality. I print all uppercase accept “e”. I don’t know what that says about myself, but the rest is spot on.

In reply to Terry Turner. Cursive Writing is taught in 28 schools in the United States. These are the latest stats. It is about to be taught in 10 more, as of this report.

I enjoyed reading the interesting. psychological insights of varies writing/letter formations. Am not sure what continuity is, but I think I have it :-). I do write with some disconnected letters at times; though when I was a teacher I worked to improve that for the students’ sake. I remember that at a certain age – maybe fourth of fifth grade, I made a decision that I have stuck with – to stop when it was too difficult to connect a letter nicely and write it
